ETIAS: when and since when to require one
2025 is expected to be a pivotal moment for Citizens of Seychelles coming to Europe as short-term visitors.
Owning Visa Waiver rights to more than 30 EU and/or Schengen Area Countries since long years, Seychelles citizens have indeed been confirmed, will also be recipient of the ETIAS Visa Waiver protocol to be enforced from 2025.
To be used for journeys whose purpose is alternatively leisure/family visit, business/commerce, medical care or transit and with a duration of stay of no more than ninety days in one hundred and eighty days, ETIAS will then be soon required to all Seychelles visitors fitting in these broad categories. Seychelles passport holders making plans to stay in EU longer ninety days within six months or whose scope of the visit is not included in the short list above will still be required to apply for a Consular Visa. Travel purposes that are not covered by ETIAS are for instance work, study, family reunification and moving one’s residence.
Although ETIAS is not technically fit for long term study programs in the Member Countries, ETIAS Visa Waiver can be used by Nationals of Seychelles for short training programs (such as, for instance, language courses or company organized training courses) if the stay in the ETIAS countries area will not exceed the limit of stay as previously summarized.ETIAS application formalization
Citizens of Seychelles are to be required to input a series of data to electronically submit their ETIAS Visa Waiver application.
Among the required data are:- personal information
- contact details including a valid e-mail address
- first ETIAS country of intended stay
- eligibility and background questions
Once the ETIAS application has then been sent forward through the tax payment, all the data will be cross checked by EU Institutions, Destination Country’s Authorities and a number of international security databases.
Application outcome reception and use of the Visa Waiver
The security check protocol is meticulous but also very efficient and is expected to allow most of the eligible applicants to receive the outcome on their e-mail address within 72 hours.
Once issued, the Visa Waiver for Seychelles Nationals is valid for 3 years and allows for multiple entries in any of the ETIAS Area Nations.
Candidates with a passport having less of 3 years of remaining validity when obtaining their ETIAS must remember the Visa Waiver will conclude its validity on the same date as their passport.
Upon entering reaching the ETIAS Area, whether air, land or seaway, and regardless of the place of origin of the trip, Border Control Officers can always ask ETIAS holders from Seychelles to show supporting documents to assess the genuine purpose and duration of their planned stay.
Among the additional documents that could be required are:- Proof of sufficient funds to support one’s stay in Europe
- Return ticket to the country of origin
- Onwards ticket to a non-ETIAS country
Possession of a valid travel health insurance is not among the mandatory provisions for ETIAS visitors but is although warmly recommended.
During every single journey that is taken on an ETIAS the Visa Waiver, traveler’s passport must have a remaining validity of at least 3 months during the entire stay any of the thirty-four ETIAS destination Countries.
