As a direct consequence Saint Lucia Nationals also will, starting from early 2025, be eligible to apply for and actually be required to have a ETIAS for their short-term visits to the ETIAS Member Countries.
Such member countries (34 in total) also include Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Greece.ETIAS or Schengen Visa?
To be used for journeys whose purpose is alternatively leisure/family visit, business/commerce, medical care or transit and with a duration of stay of no more than ninety days in one hundred and eighty days, ETIAS will be soon required to all eligible travelers fitting in these broad categories.
Saint Lucia passport holders making plans to stay in EU longer ninety days within six months or whose scope of the visit is not included in the short list above will still be required to apply for a Consular Visa. Travel purposes that are not covered by ETIAS are for instance work, study, family reunification and moving one’s residence.
Although ETIAS is not technically fit for long term study programs in the EU, it must be highlighted that ETIAS Visa Waiver can be used for short training programs if the combined permanence in the ETIAS Area will not pass the limit of stay as cited previously.ETIAS electronic form

Receiving and using ETIAS Visa Waiver
In standard situations ETIAS application outcome will be available, and sent via e-mail, within 72 hours from the application time. It is therefore recommended for each voyager, minors included (through the aid of a parent or legal guardian), to submit their application at least 72 hours before their planned departure time towards the ETIAS Area.
Once received the official Visa Waiver approval ETIAS to citizens of Saint Lucia is valid for 3 years, on until passport expiry date, and allows for multiple journeys to the Schengen Area.
Upon travelling the Saint Lucia passport must always have a minimum of 3 full months of remaining validity from the date the voyager will leave the Visa Waiver Area.
Albeit being necessary ETIAS Visa Waiver does not automatically constitute a certainty that the Saint Lucia Citizen, will be allowed to enter the Schengen Area since the final decision on this matter is always responsibility of the Border Control Officers.
To this extent visitors coming from Saint Lucia might be required to provide supporting documents like:- return ticket to origin country or onward ticket to another country not belonging to ETIAS Area
- proof of sufficient funds
- travel health insurance
To avoid issues during the Border Control Procedures it is of important that all data inputted in the ETIAS Application form are correct and truthful.
It is therefore recommended that all applicants double check all their data before submitting the application since even a small mistake could cause problems upon arrival in EU.
