Luxembourg and ETIAS protocols
Being one of the champions of European joint politics Luxembourg had of course a role of major relevance in the conception and planning of what is coming to be the ETIAS Visa Waiver System.
ETIAS will indeed soon be necessary to access Luxembourg and 33 other European Countries to travelers from the 60 eligible Visa Waiver Nations coming to Europe for either leisure, trade, medical treatment or transit for a permanence of maximum 90 days in 6 months.

Application
Visa Waiver eligible candidates are supposed to submit their application for the necessary ETIAS with none less than 72 hours advance from their planned departure time.
In order to do so each applicant, including minors through the support of an adult, are asked to fill out a simple electronic form where they will be asked questions to assess their identity and intentions such as:- Full name and surname
- Date of birth
- Place of birth
- Passport number
- Passport’s authority and place of issue
- Passport’s issue and expiry date
- Contact details
- First country of intended stay in ETIAS Area
- Background questions
Emission
Once the application feedback is available, ETIAS Visa Waiver will be sent to the personal e-mail of each individual petitioner.
ETIAS is subsequently valid for 3 years starting from its date of issue and allows for multiple entries in the 30 Member Countries provided that such trips comply with the general ETIAS limitations for purpose and duration of stay as mentioned above.
Applicants with a passport expiring in less than 3 years from the application submission date must remember that their ETIAS will cease to be valid along with the passport used for the electronic request procedure.
Moreover, aspiring Visa Waiver visitors to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and ETIAS Area in general should be aware that they are required to travel on a passport whose expiry date is at least three months away starting from the date they plan to leave from Europe.Use
Also, upon arrival at the European outer land, air or sea borders voyagers can be asked to provide supplementary documents to assess purpose and planned duration of the trip such as:
- return ticket to origin country
- onward ticket to another country not belonging to ETIAS Area
- proof of sufficient funds to support the whole stay in ETIAS Area
Being digitally linked to the candidates’ passports, printing out a hard copy of the granted Waiver is not a required prerequisite to travel to Europe.
