Benefits of Visa Waiver rights and ETIAS to Kiribati Nationals
In conformity with the EU immigration rules in force to this day, and valid until late 2024, Kiribati passport holders have the right to travel to more than 30 Nations in European Union / Schengen Area without the requirement for any document other than their valid Passport.
Such Visa Waiver rights currently allow Citizens of Kiribati to travel to 34 countries across Europe for either leisure, business and trade, transit or medical treatment for a total stay never superior to 90 days within 6 months. Beginning form year 2025, the aforementioned travel conditions will change to a small extent since a valid ETIAS Visa Waiver will be also required to Kiribati visitors that wish to travel towards such Countries for short trips.
Through its commencement, ETIAS System aims towards offering travelers from Kiribati faster and more efficient border control checks upon arrival at the EU air, land or sea borders while also remarkably diminishing the rate of cases of border rejections.
Obligation to have a valid ETIAS is, as matter of fact, expected to foster the diplomatic and trading bonds between European destinations and Visa Waiver Countries while on the other hand creating a more secure structure to overlook on the Schengen Area’s External Borders.ETIAS for Kiribati Citizens – how and when to apply
With the goal of creating a safer travel environment without creating any impediment to genuine travelers themselves, the ETIAS application procedure has been conceived so as to be intuitive and easy to approach and is expected to require each Kiribati candidate no more than 10 minutes of time.
Moreover, it has been predicted that a vast majority of ETIAS applications will receive positive feedback while, on the other hand, dramatically lowering the cases of border rejections.
So as to submit their application for ETIAS, all eligible voyagers, including minors, are asked to fill out a brief form where they are to report, in a complete and truthful way, their personal data and contact details, specifics about the first planned trip to ETIAS Member Countries and a short series of background check and general eligibility questions.
Underage candidates are expected to have the application submitted on their behalf by a parent or a legal guardian.ETIAS issuance and validity
Once the application feedback is available, in most cases within 72 hours and with a positive response, ETIAS Visa Waiver will be sent to the personal e-mail of each individual applicant.
The Waiver will then valid for 3 years starting from its date of issue and allow for multiple entries in any of the Program Participating Nations provided that such trips always comply with the general ETIAS limitations for purpose and duration of stay as mentioned above. For further specifics and exceptions about these limitations check the FAQ session or the Guideline to ETIAS of our website.
Even if ETIAS is not fit for long term study programs, the Visa Waiver can be used by Nationals of Kiribati for short training programs (such as language courses, and company organized training courses) if the stay in the ETIAS countries area will not exceed the limit of 90 days within 6 months.ETIAS practical use and validity standards
Petitioners with a passport expiring in less than 3 years from the application submission date must remember that their ETIAS will cease to be valid along with the passport used for the electronic request procedure. Also, the passport linked to ETIAS must always have a minimum of three months of remaining validity for the whole duration of stay in any of the ETIAS Nations.
When arriving in the EU, whether air, land or seaway, Border Control Officers will always have the authority to ask ETIAS holders from Kiribati to present additional documents to assess the purpose of their travel and to make sure none no passenger plans to overstay within the Visa-Free Travel Area.
Among the supporting documents that might be required are:- Return ticket to the country of origin or onwards ticket to a non-ETIAS country
- Health travel insurance
- Proof of sufficient funds to support one’s stay in the ETIAS Area
Any Kiribati citizen who is willing to move, work or study, in any of the ETIAS destination countries, on a long-term basis will not be considered eligible for ETIAS and will therefore still be required to apply for Consular Schengen Visa.
It must also be highlighted that ETIAS is only valid for journeys to the 34 European Countries that are to some extent connected to the Schengen Area.
The United Kingdom as left the European Union in 2021 and never was part of the Schengen Area; UK is therefore not part of the ETIAS Area. The same basis applies to EIRE since its is an EU Member State, but it remains outside the European border free travel area.
