Georgian Nationals to become able to candidate for ETIAS from early 2025
Must hold a valid biometric passport issued by the Republic of Georgia with at least 3 months of remaining validity throughout the entire stay in any of the ETIAS Countries

ETIAS can be used for tourism, business and trade, transit and medical treatment travels
Duration of stay in the ETIAS Member Countries must never exceed 90 days within 6 months.

UN Member since its independence the Republic of Georgia, thanks to its diplomatic standing has quickly achieved Visa Waiver rights for its citizen travelling towards the many European Countries that are part of either the Schengen Area or the European Union.ETIAS and Georgia
The diplomatic and trading synergy between political Europe’s institutions and Georgia has been renewed in 2016 when the Union’s High Commission, tracing the roadmap to ETIAS, reconfirmed the new Visa Waiver protocol named ETIAS will, starting from its very inception in 2025, also benefit the citizens of Georgia.
As a matter of fact, Nationals of Georgia with a valid biometric passport will, from 2025, be able to electronically apply for European Union’s Visa Waiver named ETIAS.ETIAS form
The ETIAS application procedure for Georgia biometric passport holders is expected to be easy to handle and has been drafted so as to require each traveler just a few minutes to input their data.
Such data include:- personal information like full name and surname, birthplace, birth country, birth date
- contact details
- scheduled travel to ETIAS Area related information
- background eligibility questions
It is very important to notice that applicants from Georgia must be in possession of a valid biometric passport in order to be eligible for ETIAS; also, the document must always have a remaing validity of three months for the whole duration of their stay in the ETIAS Zone.
Those who do not hold such kind of passport are required to apply for a Visa at the relevant Consulate of the Schengen Country they wish to visit.
The same obligation applies to all those visitors from Georgia whose travel to any of the ETIAS Member Countries do not fit in the purpose and duration of stay limits as mentioned above. For further details about ETIAS eligibility standards and exceptions click here.
Once the application has been submitted, Georgian Citizens will receive the outcome on their personal e-mail. Such electronic feedback will in most cases be available within 3 days from the application date.Since the Visa Waiver grant notice will only be sent directly to each applicant’s personal e-mail it is very important for each applicant to input a valid and working e-mail account when they fill out the required form.
ETIAS validity and use
Once received the positive outcome, ETIAS Visa Waiver to citizens of Georgia is valid for 3 years, allows for multiple trips and is valid to enter any of the 34 States participating in the scheme from either air, land and sea borders.
Applicants whose passport expire in less than 3 years must notice that their Visa Waiver will cease to be valid along with the passport used for the request.
ETIAS holding Georgians traveling towards any of the active destinations might always be required, upon arrival in the Schengen Area from abroad, to provide further documents and proof to assess the genuine purpose and duration of their trips such as:- return ticket to origin country
- onwards ticket to a non-ETIAS Member Country
- proof of sufficient funds to support their stay in the ETIAS Area
