Visa Waiver Rights to Dominica Nationals
According to the regulations currently in force, and valid until late 2024, Nationals of Dominica are granted the right to travel to the 34 European Union and Schengen Area Member States without obligation for any mandatory document other than their valid Dominica Passport. Such Visa Waiver rights currently permit Citizens of Dominica to visit 34 countries across Europe for either tourism, business, transit or medical care for a total stay of maximum ninety out of every one-hundred and eighty days.
Starting form early 2025, while the Visa Waiver rights will keep on existing, the travel conditions will slightly change since a valid ETIAS Visa Waiver will be also required to Dominica Citizens that wish to visit EU / Schengen Area Countries for short trips.ETIAS goals and benefits
Through its enforcement ETIAS System aims to allow travellers from Dominica to experience faster border controls upon arrival at the Schengen Area’s air, land or sea External Borders; also, its establishment is not meant to create any hindrance towards incoming legitimate visitors.
On the contrary, according to EU High Commission’s official reports, obligation to have a valid ETIAS is expected to enhance the cultural, diplomatic and trading bonds between ETIAS Countries themselves and Visa Waiver Countries while at the same time creating a more secure structure to protect the Schengen Area’s External Borders.
With all such goal in mind the ETIAS application process was designed so as to be swift and easy to approach and is expected to require each candidate a maximum of ten minutes of their time.
Also, it is expected that a vast majority of ETIAS applications will receive a positive feedback while, on the other hand, dramatically lowering the cases of border rejections.ETIAS electronic request
In order to apply for ETIAS all travelers from Dominica are required to fill out a simple form where they shall be asked to report, in a complete and truthful way, their personal information, valid contact details and specifics about the first planned trip to ETIAS Member Countries. Also, they will be asked to answer a few background check questions.
All individuals, including minors, coming to the EU/Schengen Area as visitors on a Dominica passport will need to have an ETIAS of their own.
Once approved ETIAS Visa Waiver will be sent to the e-mail of the candidate within, in most cases, 72 hours.ETIAS validity and use upon traveling
ETIAS Visa Waiver is valid for 3 years starting from its date of issue and it allows multiple trips to each of the thirty-four destination countries provided that such visits comply with the general ETIAS terms of use concerning purpose and duration of stay as mentioned above.
Being electronically linked to applicants’ passports, printing a copy of the granted Visa Waiver is recommended but not necessary.
Applicants whose passport expire in less than 3 years must notice that their ETIAS will cease to be valid along with the passport used for the request.
When arriving in the EU, whether air, land or seaway, and regardless of the place of origin of the journey, Border Control Officers can always ask ETIAS holders from Dominica to show supporting documents to clarify the purpose of their travel and to make sure none of them plans to overstay inside the Area.
Amid the supporting documents that could be required are:
Return ticket to the country of origin or onwards ticket to a non-ETIAS country
Proof of sufficient funds to support one’s stay in Europe
Any other document that could help assessing the genuine purpose of the travel
