Such Visa Waiver rights currently allow Citizens of Brunei to visit at least 34 countries accross Europe for either leisure, commerce, transit or medical care for a total stay never to exceed ninety days within six months. Starting form early 2025 this condition will partially change since a valid ETIAS Visa Waiver will be also required to Brunei Darussalam Citizens willing to visit such thirty-four countries for short trips.

Through its inception ETIAS System aims to allow incoming travelers from Brunei to experience faster border control checks upon arrival in Europe. Based on European Union High Commission’s official reports, this obligation is indeed expected to enhance the cultural and trading bonds between EU itself and Visa Waiver Countries while at the same time implementing a more stable and reliable protection of the Schengen Area’s External Borders.
So as not create any obstacle the ETIAS application process has been therefore outlined so as to be swift and easy to fill out and it should not require each applicant no more than ten minutes.
At the same time, it is expected that an overwhelming majority of ETIAS applications will receive positive feedback while reducing drastically the cases of border rejections as well.
So as to put forward their ETIAS application all candidates from Brunei Darussalam are required to input in the electronic form a short and yet detailed set of data.
Such information broadly include:- Full name and surname as reported on the passport
- Surname at birth
- Date and place of birth
- Birth country
- Passport number
- Passport’s authority and place of issue
- Passport’s issue and expiry date
- Contact details including current address, phone number and valid e-mail address
- Scheduled arrival date in ETIAS Area and first country of intended stay
- Criminal record history (if any)
- Immigration history (if any)
- Public health risks associated to the person and a series of disease this might be affected from
Each single traveler with passport of Brunei Darussalam will need to have an ETIAS of his/her own; such obligation also includes minors that are for this reason required to have a valid individual passport and seek support of a parent or legal guardian to manager their request.

The validity of ETIAS has been established to be 3 years starting from the issue date and it will allow multiple trips to the program participating countries as long as such trips comply with the general ETIAS limitations for purpose and duration of stay. In case of applicants whose passport expires in less than 3 years it must be notice that the obtained ETIAS will cease to be valid along the passport used for the application.
Also, upon each single travel taken on a Visa Waiver, the passport must always have not less than three months of remaining validity since the scheduled departure date from the ETIAS Area.
When arriving in the Europe, Border Control Officers, can always ask Visa Waiver visitors from Brunei for further supporting paper to assess the purpose of their travel and to ensure they do not plan to stay within the ETIAS Area longer than allowed.
Among the additional documents that could be required are:- Return ticket to the country of origin
- Onwards ticket to a non-ETIAS country
- Proof of sufficient funds
A health travel insurace is not mandatory for ETIAS travellers while it is stricly required to those who hold a valid Schengen Consular Visa.
