Overall validity
Once received the positive outcome, ETIAS Visa Waiver to the Kingdom of Belgium is valid for 3 years and allows for multiple journeys towards all the 34 Countries part of the European Union/Schengen Area; an exception to such validity time is made for those voyagers whose passports are to expire in less than 3 years from the ETIAS issue date. ETIAS can exclusively be used for Business, Tourism, Transit and Medical Treatment aimed journeys with a maximum permanence inside the ETIAS Area in its entirety that must always be no longer than ninety days within six months. Visa Waiver Nationals aiming to study, work or live in Belgium or any other ETIAS Countries on a long-term basis will still be demanded to apply for a specific Consular Visa.
Although ETIAS is not fit for long term study programs or family reunification, ETIAS Visa Waiver can be used to enter the for short training programs and/or for family and friends visits if the stay in the ETIAS countries area will not pass the timing threshold mentioned above.

Even though its possession is compulsory for short term trips falling under the categories cited in the Basic Facts, holding a ETIAS Visa Waiver to Belgium itself does not ensure that the Nationals of Visa Waiver Country will be allowed inside the Kingdom or political Europe in general since the final decision on this matter is exclusive responsibility of the Border Control Officers.
Visitors coming to the Schengen Area from abroad should also notice that they could be asked to provide supporting documents to demonstrate the actual aim and duration of their scheduled stay in the ETIAS Area. Such additional documents may include:- return ticket to country of residence
- onwards ticket to a non-ETIAS country where the persons have a proven right to enter
- proof of sufficient funds to support themselves during the whole stay
