Each petitioner must have a valid passport issued by the State of Barbados
Electronic application and delivery system enabled
ETIAS to be used for visits to 34 European Nations whose aim is for either business, leisure, transit or medical care
Combined stay in ETIAS Area as a whole must never surpass 90 out of every 180 days.
ETIAS preconditions
Right after the approval of the ETIAS System Protocol carried out by the European Union in 2016, it has been confirmed that Citizens of Barbados will retain their Visa Waiver rights to the EU/Schengen Area. As a direct consequence Barbados National also will, starting from early 2025, be eligible to apply for ETIAS for their short trips to the ETIAS Member Countries.
Such member countries (34 in total) also include Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Greece.

ETIAS Visa Waiver for Barbados passport holder must be applied for electronically and, in the same way, the outcome of the application will be sent to the e-mail account of each passenger.
On a standard basis ETIAS application outcome shall be available within 72 hours since the application time. It is therefore strongly recommended for each traveler, minors included, to submit their application at least 72 hours prior to their scheduled departure time towards the ETIAS Area.
The ETIAS application process for Barbados National is easy to approach and is expected to required candidates not more than 10 minutes to input their data.
Such data include:- personal information such as full name and surname, birthplace, birth country, birth date
- planned travel to EU related information
- general eligibility questions
- background questions including criminal history (if any), potential healthcare risks and migration history (if any)
Once received a positive outcome ETIAS Visa Waiver to citizens of Barbados will be valid for 3 years and will allow for multiple trips to each of EU/Schengen Area Members and De Facto Member Countries.
Entering ETIAS Area
Although its possession will in most cases be mandatory (click here to view ETIAS detailed eligibility standards and exceptions), ETIAS Visa Waiver does not automatically constitute a certainty that the Barbados Citizen, holder of a valid ETIAS will be allowed to enter the Schengen Area Borders since the final decision on this matter is always responsibility of the Border Control Officers.
On this aspect visitors from Barbados, regardless of the non-Schengen point of origin of their journey and of the mean of transportation used for borders crossing, might be required to provide additional documents like:- return ticket to origin country
- proof of sufficient funds
- any documents that could help officers assessing the genuine purpose of the trip
To avoid problems during the Border Control Procedures it is of paramount importance that all data inputted in the ETIAS Application form are correct and truthful.
